Anil Joshi - Vision

First and foremost, I am grateful to the residents of Guru Ki Nagri ‘Shri Amritsar Sahib’, who have blessed me with an opportunity to serve the Holy City. Almost four years have passed by since the formation of Akali–BJP government in 2007. In these years, I have seriously endeavored to come up the expectations with which the people had voted for me. Although, I have been elected M.L.A from the ticket of BJP but I firmly uphold myself as a representative of all the people of constituency. My work, my efforts are before the honorable citizens of the Holy City for public scrutiny and to judge for themselves as to how far I have succeeded in what was expected from me. Actually, I have attempted to work over and above the party lines on the voice of my conscience, my inner self and sometimes, I have to even work outside the given framework of party line in the larger interest of the people.

I feel that ‘almighty’ has especially blessed me as a representative of the people so as to understand their problems and search for solution. In this regard whosoever has approached me, I have considered it my ‘dharma’ to be honestly of some help to him irrespective of his religion or party affiliation.

Today, the society in general relent the loss of faith and trust in the elected representatives. We, the politicians, seriously require some soul-searching. There is a need to restore the lost faith in politicians and in order to do so I believe one has to lead by way of setting personal example.

The stature of the people for me is above the government. It’s the people who make or mar the government. Here, I also appeal to the people in particular to the youth, to realise the ‘True Value’ of their Vote. The sacrifices made by our forefathers and the hard earned freedom had empowered us with ‘Right to Vote’ in the Independent India. But, the big question to ponder is whether we have been exercising our franchise in a responsible manner? If the falling standards in politics and prevailing vitiated political atmosphere are any indication, the answer appears to be not so positive. The political decisions and choices we have made so far requires scrutiny because the outcome is not close to expectations. No one intend to pass on the culture of political opportunism, nepotism and rampant corruption, the legacy of our generation to the generation next. Improvement in the current political set up is possible if such vital issues are debated intensely in our society.

With these crisp observations, I lay before you my mission behind undertaking the political journey and if you feel some substance in these views then do give a serious thought to it and start making conscious choices and decisions to purge the political system of ills that plague it.

My political philosophy is simple, “Give light and the darkness will disappear itself” or as Mahatama Gandhi ji said it “We must become the change we want to see”.
